Burns Construction were awarded the Newton Dee’s Camphill Community Craft Studio refurbishment in 2022. Camphill Community is a community of 210 people, including 83 adults with special needs, living and working together in 24 households.

Works comprised of two small extensions and significant alteration and upgrading works to the existing Craft Studio.

The works consisted of completely stripping out the entire building to leave the main portal and timber-framed external walls, removing the raised floor, laying a new concrete slab, re-cladding the roof with new composite aluminium standing seam cladding, and extending the roof to form a new covered work area.

The external walls were then stripped back, and the panels were then insulated and lined, new aluminium/timber windows and external doors were installed and new ceilings, floor coverings and M&E upgrades were undertaken.

Furthermore, our in-house joiner workshop manufactured the new purpose-made kitchen units which provided a bespoke area to the residents and their extra needs.
