Refurbishment and alterations to Aberdeen charity & community building
Aberdeen Lads Club, an established charity set up in 1924 by local business people, promotes the social, moral, and physical well-being of young men. The current building, constructed in the 1980s, has served as a football and youth club. More recently, it has expanded to include community services, a day nursery, and holiday club facilities.
Externally works were undertaken to freshen up the façade and to resolve the water ingress issues, this included completely over-cladding the existing roof in a new standing seam cladding, re-rendering of all the external walls and replacement of all doors and windows with new UPVC windows and doors.
Internally, a new mezzanine floor was created to split the existing games hall into two, providing more space, along with a new lift and stairwell being installed. Works were also undertaken to install new insulated linings throughout, and refurbishments were also undertaken to the existing toilets, changing and shower areas and the relocation of the games hall.
To the lower ground floor the refurbishment of toilet areas, nursery facility, youth room, music/drama/fitness area were also undertaken and works also included the relocation of the kitchen and dining facilities. All mechanical and electrical services were completely stripped out and refitted, and decorating throughout completed the works.
Burns Construction was thrilled to contribute to this community project, and the team felt a strong sense of accomplishment upon completing the work
